Optional Homework
Optional work will nOt be posted until AFTER
Fall Curriculum Night 8/22/19
Suggested Guidelines
The practice work offered here will extend and apply the lessons taught during the regular school day from the previous term. The work should give students an opportunity to review and extend their practice in mathematic skills. Families shall make the decision if homework is necessary and how frequently it should be completed. Optional work will be posted each term and families may print out pieces as they see fit. There is no need to send in this work for me to review.
Time Recommendations (from NEA and National PTA)
Kindergarten 5-10 minutes
First/Second Grade 10-20 minutes
Third Grade 30 minutes
Home practice work for each module:
Module 1 home practice
Module 2 home practice
Module 3 home practice
Module 4 home practice
Module 5 home practice
Module 6 home practice
Module 7 home practice
Module 8 home practice
*More importantly...families are encouraged to foster a love of literacy by reading together, aloud (parent to child), or independently at home every day!
Including, weekends and vacations :)

ACCELERATED Reader (AR)
AR is a computer program that helps teachers and librarians manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.)
Keyboarding Without Tears
Students are finally ready to begin practicing their keyboarding skills at home. Please click here for a detailed letter explaining the program, how to access it at home, and how students should be using it at home. As the letter describes, if you are interested in using the program at home, you will need to submit some basic contact information. The link is in the letter but you can also click here to access it.
